Kathy has over 20 years’ experience in the pensions industry working with both DB and DC schemes, performing roles in third-party administration, consultancy and in-house environments.

Facilitating effective trustee decision-making, designing effective governance tools and helping trustees get the most out of relationships with advisers and service providers, in a trustee secretarial capacity, have been common threads throughout her career.

Current appointments

Kathy's current appointments include on-going governance and secretarial duties for 5 schemes and project appointments, such as undertaking provider reviews for 4 further schemes.

Employment before joining the team

Kathy worked at National Grid as a DC Scheme Pensions Adviser. Here she provided technical and secretarial support to the Trustees, Governance & Administration Sub-Committee and the DC Scheme Manager, managed relationships with service providers.

Prior to this Kathy spent over 20 years at the Punter Southall Group where she was responsible, for a number of years, for maintaining and demonstrating the quality framework for their third-party pension administration business.  Latterly she moved into their DC consultancy business, PS Aspire, where she was a senior consultant.

Areas of expertise and achievements

Governance support including trustee training, drafting trustee policy papers, design of trustee effectiveness and service review frameworks.

Heavily involved, as a consultant between 2014 and 2016, in the re-design of risk management frameworks to reflect the introduction of IRM (for DB) and the DC Code (for DC) and re-focus the risk register on operational risks and the assessment of controls.

Builds effective relationships with trustees, service providers and advisers (notably including IT suppliers and retirement advice solutions) by building rapport and actively seeking improvements in ways of working.

Interpreting how new legislation impacts on trustees, sponsors and members and redesigning governance and administration processes to address the changes.  This mix of in-depth technical knowledge with a strong practical focus helps Kathy produce effective, joined-up solutions.
